Thoughts For Your Journey...

Several years ago coming back from my route I stopped into a truck stop in Oklahoma.   As I was walking inside I noticed an older gentlemen with an MBM ball cap coming out.   My curiosity got the best of me and I approached him and asked where he got the MBM ball cap.   He really got excited and told me that he was a driver for MBM for more than 16 years.    He told me how Mr. Wordsworth knew everyone by name and how he would call you personally to help out if he needed something.   It didn't matter if you were on the West Coast and he was on the East Coast.    He told me story after story about an MBM that cared about their people!   Then his mood changed and he sort of mumbled "but it all changed".    He told me that when Mr Wordsworth let the kids run it.   It changed.   You became a number, not a person.   He told me that it became "all about money and the bottom line".   He said that "we just became invisible to them, it was like we didn't even matter anymore".

Sounds familiar doesn't it?   It hits pretty close to home for most of us at MBM Lewisville.

It's really hard to know where to start.   There has been so many changes over several years.   And none that really has help the driver.

For the most we need to inform you of these recent changes that affect you and your money...

-MBM Lewisville's management has outsourced our Houston routes to new drivers in the Houston area.   We are not against people getting ahead in life, but those routes were NEVER offered to our senior drivers.   These new hires in the Houston area are unloading their stores with a lift gate.   And get to go home every day.  And make a very nice living.

-The same process is happening with the San Antonio routes.   This is why it is so difficult to get extra routes.

-MBM Lewisville hires new drivers and starts them out at 85% of what senior drivers make.    This is also why we don't get extra routes.   The new hires get the extra routes and MBM saves $$$$$ on labor!

-The new hires are being mislead during the application process.   They are being told that they can make 60k +!   Maybe in 2008!!!  The misleading is also causing the applicants to increase.

-There are drivers that have taken a $30,000 to $40,000 cut in pay in the last year due to the actions we have stated above!

There has been more that twenty drivers apply somewhere else in the past week.  Only because MBM Lewisville does not care about you or me.  They care about the bottom line.

We drive the miles. We sacrifice the time away from our families. We miss our kids football games, basketball games, recitals and so much more. We beat our bodies down for what...a company that doesn't care for us.  Is it worth it to work for a company for years and have nothing to show for all your years of service?

A few years back Brian Wordsworth told us that we are all family here in Lewisville. Maybe a dis-functional family!!!

Just something for you to think about as you drive down the road...

Be Safe!

Please feel free to leave comments.  If you are management reading this...Cowboy up.  People come before money.  If it wasn't for the driver the customer wouldn't receive the product. MBM gave us less than a penny raise this year.  While they are still charging our customers fuel surcharge of $30.00 and more.   And while they hide thousands of dollars of damaged inventory, from Corporate,  in the warehouse to insure they receive their bonus.   And we get a frozen turkey the size of a football.

MBM should be ashamed and embarrassed!!!

  2. I'm one of those. New guys. They did tell me I could make 60k and up. I'm lucky if I bust 50. I have to almost beg for work! I'm looking other job. This place is a joke.

  3. Above stated that we got less then a penny raise. Well the truth of the matter is that for 3 years we as drivers went without a raise. We figured we were helping the company through hard economic times. When the raise arrived it was 1/2 a penny a case raise. WOW what a slap in the face to the employees who thought we were helping the company out!

  4. Above mentioned that good paying routes were being given to new drivers as the company could make more money and management would get bigger bonus. An example of that is 2 stops were taken off of the route i was on to make a new route. This new route was gven to a new driver only making 85%. My route was never over weight and was completed early. This is an example of how they are cheating the senior driver out of making money so that management can receive a bigger bonus. I guess this falls under the catergory of corp. GREED.

  8. ! If everyone would do their part maybe things could run smoother. It's not just about the drivers!!! How do you think others feel. You are just making it harder on everyone in the long run by becoming a thorn in the sides of many. Yes things need to change but it takes time. And both sides to cooperate not just one side with their hands out complaining for more money when most of the drivers cause more problems and more money. You are not the only people in this company!!!

  12. Stay off our blog FAT ASS. This is for real working truck drivers. This isn't for COCK SUCKING SCABS like you. We already know who you are, so dont push us.

  13. I agree with Frank, and yes it is just our opinion, that I believe we have the right to express some may agree some may not,the facts are weather you like it or not is all these drivers have gone through specific training for multiple years to safely operate, learn the laws and face the hazards of daily highway travel.. To go along with hand unloading loads that are not exactly put together the way they should be,dealing with extreme heat or cold, missing home time for family events and etc. so what ever we are compensated for we earn..It's not all about the money.it has to do a lot with the way the company has declined with the way the driver reps are treated.example taking bid routes from drivers totally changing the routes they have bid on, we bid these routes so we can plan our income our days off , just to name a few.its not that we don't or won't think of others however this is the mbm drivers blog not the payroll office workers or warehouse workers blog..we are just standing up and speaking what we think is right to protect those of us that have driven here and done our jobs the way they should be done..most drivers here are doing there job,and believe it or not may not be as ignorant as I guess a couple of you think they are..as for the person that keeps using the little both comment...I don't see you posting your name...got something to hide? Stand up for yourselves the company will stand up for itself ........ya"ll be safe out there..........and by the way. This is Scott Wheeler. I have nothing to hide just expressing my thoughts.......thanks Frank

  15. Your not denying your a FAT ASS, or a COCKSUCKING SCAB. You can put that in pink and purple, I don't give a shit!!! If you want to act like a dumb ass on a blog that was put here to benefit the drivers at MBM. Then you need to go make up your own blog for your kind of people. Y'all can blog about whatever sick fetishes you fucks are into!!! Here at this blog we are talking about true and meaningful problems that affect the hard working drivers and there families. I'm here as a MAN with BIG BALLS and a lot of PRIDE trying to make a difference in the way we are treated. We are all family on this blog(except you. I'm kicking you out now).

  16. So what are you going to do now that it is black and white scared ass. Exactly nothing. So go cry to your boss and tell him what we are writing, cause there is nothing he can do about it. Freedom of speech little bitch.

  17. This is great, this is supposed to be a place where the drivers can discuss issues important to possibly make our jobs and futures at MBM better..it didn't take long for the idiots to make it onto the seen. It's no wonder why this company figures they do not have to worry about the drivers getting together ever. The two of you need to grow up and at least try to act like a professional . Good luck to all of us as long as we have fools like these two supposedly on our side.

  18. Wow it amazes me at the fact that you want more from a company you think so little of. Quote.... "All ohers are parasites" if you're not a driver or loader. Hmm... Again you guys aren't the only ones in the company with discrepancies with pay. By all means I appreciate this blog. We should all get paid more. Respected more. Everyone earn their living. But not one person in this company is less than the other that's the problem we have with management. That's why people will not do their job. It goes for everyone. Not just one sided. I am not trying to bash anyone but I too make nothing work long hours and under people who don't care. So please don't assume that all do not understand what's going on and do not care. I wish for a better pay just as much as you. So please be safe out there these holidays and I hope everyone can enjoy them.

  19. We put our name out there, like I said you are to scared to put yours. You know who you are talking to, we have nothing to hide. I've been here a long time, from the time it took a month to get our first check and everybody running around with there head cut off. You would figure after 11 years this company would be where it's suppose to be, it just got a whole lot worst. Unless you have dealt with all that then you have nothing to say

  20. I appreciate the fact that the workforce of MBM is getting together and expressing their dissatisfaction with the way that the employees are getting treated. Everyone needs to focus on the problems that affect all of us together and not the individual problems. In order for us to change the perception that the managers have on the employees is to stick together. This is why Occupy Wallstreet isn't working. There is no common ground. Nobody truly knows why they are even there. So it looks like more of a annoyance than a benefit. We all need to get together and find a common ground to what it is that we will be fighting for. The only way I see to gain any type of respect is to have a contract with the company. MBM has a contract with every company they do business with. That is to guarantee the price and the guidelines under how MBM will do business with them. The way I see,we as employees also do business with MBM. The only difference is that our agreement isn't legal binding. That means they can change the agreement they have with us when we were hired on to suit their needs. By law, there is nothing we can do about it. With the other contracts that they have can only be changed every four years when that contract is up. Then at that time each party sits down and negotiates the terms and agreements of the next four years. That's right! The key word is NEGOTIATE. We as employees don't receive that privilege. We receive the privilege to take what they give us no matter how it may hurt us. These jobs and tasks that we do here for MBM are no easy ones. You can't be lazy to work here. Just because you vote a union contract in doesn't mean that the work gets easier or you get to do less work. We will still have the same customers that will have the same needs as before. It just means we will be able to negotiate our pay, benefits, and the way we work. This is business, nothing personal. Just the same respect given to all the other companies that MBM does business with. I hope y'all take this to mind and research the benefits of having the opportunity to actually be able to vote on all of your benefits and pay with the company and our own set of work rules with the company instead of settling with what the company wants you to have.

  22. While there will always be those who want to keep their head in the sand, THE FACT is that John Anderson and his new sidekick "Boyd Wonder" has a very short sighted management style, everything is about today, never building for tomorrow. The FACT is that truck drivers have never bankrupted a company, that takes mismanagement. If you think drivers are upset, you should talk to our customers, you know, the people who pay the bills. I have never worked for a company where the drivers care more than management does. We need a contract to protect ourselves from people who worry more about their bonus than making sure our customers are gonna stay with us. FT Worth has lost Darden, you can't get Anderson to admit that, what do think he would do if we lost a contract? He gets reassigned we find another job! The FACT is we are specialized in what we do, we earn a lot, or used to, not many people can or will do this job. Everytime an employee talks about "all the money" we make, I tell them to go get a CDL, none of them have done it yet! In 08' we tried to organize, the "mismanagers" patted us on the back, cooked us hot dogs and called us "buddy"! Are you better off now? Let's trade the hot dogs for some job security! The rest can crawl back under Anderson's desk and hope that works for them

  23. I'm not sure if union is the best option or the only option. But I do know that actions do speak louder than words. And the actions of the management in Lewisville is one of not caring about their employees!!! I'm not sure if Wordsworth don't know or just don't give a rats ass about how things go down at our terminal! Does anyone know how to get in touch with him? We need someone that listen and not just bullshit us!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Really dude? Bwordsworth@mbmfoodservice.com email him and he'll will come and rub your dick fr you, that is exactly what happened in 08'! "Were family", " we don't need to involve outsiders" blah blah. ARE YOU BETTER OFF TODAY? Sitting around hoping that someone is going to do the right thing is a waste of your life, we don't need anymore hot dogs and cheap ass tote bags, we need job security, pay for ALL we do and some work rules!

  25. who is this fag? piss off dude!!

  26. It's obvious MBM is ignoring the issues that have been addressed! The longer they play the worse it will get.

  27. We need someone to take control of this damn company. These guys are out of control.

  28. I see that management has gotten a hold of this blog. Maybe if management was smart they would be using some of the information in this blog to make some changes. But instead y'all act like idiots and post stupid things. Laugh hard and laugh long because when Leo Taylor or Brian get the link.... You will probably be throwing each other under the bus. Then we will have our turn. Just fix the problems. All your going to do is cause a lot bigger problems for yourselves by making stupid comments on this blog. There isn't a whole lot of management positions being offered out there right now. I'm sure that Brian and Leo would love to come and spend their Christmas in Lewisville Texas away from their families trying to fix what y'all won't. You as managers need to think about that. Learn from Bill Dobbs. He respected the drivers and received respect back.

  29. Here @ MBM ONTARIO we are fighting to bring the union in. Management here takes advantage of us and they try to nickel and dime us every way they can, we are underpaid and work under very unsafe working conditions
